Water, if leaked from the transformer, can cause damage and potentially contaminate the surroundings.
It's important to note that there are alternative insulating fluids being researched and used in certain applications, such as synthetic ester-based fluids, which offer improved fire safety and environmental properties compared to mineral oil.
