The safe operation and service life of dry-type transformers depend on the safety and reliability of dry-type transformer coil insulation. The winding temperature exceeds the insulation endurance, and the insulation damage caused by temperature is one of the main reasons why dry-type transformers cannot operate properly. Therefore, the monitoring and alarm control of the operating temperature of dry-type transformers is very important.
Because the structure of dry-type transformers is from the inside and outside, it is an iron core, low-voltage coil wire and high-voltage coil wire. The heat source is iron core and low-voltage coil wire, and the high-voltage coil wire on the outer surface has little heat due to the small current. Therefore, dry-type transformers and air conditioners do not have a good cooling effect when using ordinary axial fans. When dry-type transformers are manufactured, dedicated cooling channels are left.
Dry-type transformers can only achieve the desired effect if special temperature control devices are used. In order to meet the requirements of unmanned substations, it is recommended to set up an air-cooled temperature control system on the existing substation transformer to ventilate the switchgear. If the temperature is too high, the ventilation heat dissipation device can be automatically activated.
The temperature signal is measured by a thermal cooler of the PT100 buried in the hot section of the low-voltage coil. When the load of the dry-type transformer increases and the operating temperature rises, the winding temperature reaches a certain value (this value can be adjusted, and the F-class dry-type insulated transformer is generally set to 110 °C), and the system automatically starts the fan cooling. When the winding temperature drops to a certain value (this value can also be adjusted, the F-class dry-type insulation transformer is generally set to 90°C), the system automatically stops the fan.
